The drives have an integrated thermal protection system and conveniently adjustable limit switches with a range of up to 85 revolutions. The limit switches for the upper and lower end positions are individually accessible from the outside. This makes it possible to use these drives in nearly all situations.

Major European manufacturers have banded together to form the SMI working group and developed the digital motor interface - this allows drives to be controlled not just by switching but by telegramns. Standardisation enables roller shutters, sun protection systems, control manufacturers, planners and installers to combine products by different manufacturers. Simple yet powerful standard commands allow functions that could not be realised with conventional drives. For example, there are commands to stop at predefined intermediate positions or to call up the current motor positions. It is also possible to incorporate feedback from the motor with diagnostic reports.
The electronic controls are connected via a 5 core cable with power and data transmission. Distances of up to 350 m can be accommodated with the SMI interface. Up to 16 drives can be switched in parallel, depending on the application. This represents a considerable reduction in the installation costs.
